Mashable co-editor Ben Parr among the first confirmed to speak at the Dublin Web Summit

Mashable co-editor, Ben Parr (@benparr), and Google’s European marketing director, Dan Cobley (@dcobley), are among the first confirmed speakers at the Dublin Web Summit (@dublinwebsummit) this March in Trinity College Dublin.

Ben Parr is co-editor of Mashable, the world’s largest technology blog, and famous for his insights on social media news. His opinion is valued considerably by mainstream media and is often quoted by the BBC, CNN, and The New York Times.

Dan Cobley is Google’s European marketing director and promises to deliver greater understanding of marketing efforts at Google and the wider world. Last year Cobley spoke at TEDGlobal 2010 with a talk titled “What physics taught me about marketing”, so he’s no stranger to the big stage.

This is the first event of 2011 in the Dublin Web Summit (DWS) series and will take place as a half-day event on March 8th. Two additional half-day summits will also be held, one again in March and one in June. A special two-day summit will be held in October, totalling five DWS events in this year’s series.

The DWS series is fast becoming the definitive Irish technology event. According to John Collins, deputy business editor of The Irish Times,

“The Dublin Web Summit is an event that has quickly risen to the top of the pile since it first elbowed its way on to a crowded calendar a year ago.”

Over 2,500 people attended DWS events in 2010, with this year promising to be bigger and better than ever. Past speakers have included Chad Hurley, founder of YouTube, Jack Dorsey, Founder of Twitter, and Niklas Zennstrom, founder of Skype.

Tickets for the half-day event go on sale next Tuesday, February 1st, starting from €199 and can be purchased from the Dublin Web Summit website.
